A Brief of HR to MC Truck Licence
To be eligible to apply for an MC (multi-combination) license, you must have held your (HR) heavy rigid or (HC) heavy combination licence for at least 1 year.
The department does not conduct practical driving tests for a class MC licence.
- After obtaining an HR or HC license, you can take an MC course at any time.
- You will not issue you with an MC Licence until you have held your HR or HC for a continuous period of 12 months.
- You must successfully complete a theory and practical assessment before issuing a statement of attainment.
- You must file your application for your license, in person, with your Statement of Attorney at the Department of Transportation and Main Road Customer Service Center along with the current driver’s license.
- If you currently have a medical condition on your license, then you need a medical certificate for the license you are applying for.
How can you upgrade your driving licence to a class MC?
To upgrade your licence to a class MC licence, you must:
- Holds class HR or HC license for a minimum period of 1 year.
- Complete the Driver License Application / Renewal Form.
- Show your proof of identity documents.
- If necessary, pass an eyesight test.
- State that you are medically fit to drive the class of vehicle.
TRAINING OUTCOMES
After successful completion of this course what you will be able to do:
- Firstly you will get to learn how to start, steer, position, maneuver, and stop the vehicle.
- Successfully identify and avoid hazards (defensive driving).
- Load the vehicle safely and use the most appropriate load restraint method.
- Correctly managing engine power to minimize gear and engine wear.
- Reverse, maintain visibility and accurately position the vehicle.
- Correctly park, shut down and secure the vehicle.
