A Brief of LR (Light Rigid)
LR - Light rigid driving licence is used to drive any rigid vehicle which has GVM of more than 4.5 tonnes but less than 8 tonnes or a bus which has carrying capacity of more than 12 people (Including the driver).
They must have two axles.
- The number of passengers can be 12 adults or more, including the driver.
- The vehicle must be rigid, i.e. not articulated.
A Light Rigid (LR) license is usually demanded for the following driving roles:
- Tour Guide
- Food Delivery Driver
- Airport Shuttle Driver
- Volunteer Driver for a Social Club or Council
- Primary or Secondary School Teacher
- Food Delivery Driver
LR Vehicles Include:
- Small trucks up to 8 tonnes with gross vehicle mass (GVM). The weight of any towed trailer should not exceed nine tonnes of GVM.
- Buses offering up to 8 tons of seats to more than 12 adults, including driver and GVM.
TRAINING OUTCOMES
After successful completion of this course what you will be able to do:
- Firstly you will get to learn how to start, steer, position, maneuver, and stop the vehicle.
- Successfully identify and avoid hazards (defensive driving).
- Load the vehicle safely and use the most appropriate load restraint method.
- Correctly managing engine power to minimize gear and engine wear.
- Reverse, maintain visibility and accurately position the vehicle.
- Correctly park, shut down and secure the vehicle.
